CV
Jabari Wimbley’s practice is rooted in textile traditions, drawing on latch-hooking, quilting, and natural dyeing as processes of memory and inheritance. Through latch-hook techniques, he creates portraits from yarns and wools, extending craft into a space of representation. Quilting and natural dyeing, passed down through the matrilineal line of his grandmother and mother, are central to his work. Natural dyeing transforms fabric into a living surface, where color becomes a record of time and environment. In parallel, Wimbley’s photography examines portraiture and landscape as intersecting forms, opening a dialogue between body and place. Across textiles and photographs alike, his work reimagines portraiture. © Jabari WimbleyEmail Instagram
